Take Time to Remember

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries2 Minutes

Why do we celebrate Memorial Day? Why do we remember and appreciate those who have fallen in our nation’s wars?

I believe remembering stirs something within us that renews our minds… changes our perspective… strengthens our resolve.

It’s not just so we can just appreciate the sacrifice of others, but so we actually grow in our trust in Him.

All throughout the Bible, God instructed His people to commemorate what He did for them.

A good example is in the book of Joshua when God rolled back the waters of the Jordan River, allowing the Israelites to cross into the Promised Land.

The Lord told Joshua to leave a memorial of 12 huge stones to serve as a monument of God’s provision and goodness.

God knew by remembering, that it would embolden the faith of His people. They could look back on His mighty miracles and find courage for the next testing of their faith.

As believers today, we can look at our own history and see God’s goodness in our lives.

But the key to understanding our blessings is not just found in all the good things that have happened, but in knowing that God remembers!

We can rejoice knowing God will never forget us nor forsake His promises to us.

Even when life gets difficult and we don’t know where to turn, we can rest in the fact that He is in control and He is working out His purposes for our good.

The wonderful fact is, He loves us and always has our best interest at heart. Remembering His goodness should always strengthen us and push us to do our utmost for His glory.

I encourage you, my friend, on this Memorial Day, take time to remember.

God bless you,
