Strength for the Hard Days

Adversity reveals what we’ve built our lives on, and Strength for the Hard Days reminds us that a life rooted in God draws steady strength when trouble comes.

“If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small” (Proverbs 24:10).

All of us face adversity and times of distress and trouble. The question is, how will we respond? Will we falter? Be overcome with fear?

Or will we move forward boldly, trusting in God, sure that He is with us? Will we depend on Him to give us everything we need?

When we’re in the middle of a crisis, it can be hard to concentrate and think rationally. It can be hard to hear God or even have faith.

The time to prepare for trouble is before trials take place. It is for times such as this that we need to build up a reservoir of strength. We need to take advantage of every opportunity to grow spiritually; to read, study, and meditate on the Bible; to be sure that God’s Word is hidden in our hearts; to spend time in prayer.

The Bible warns us against putting our confidence in others for strength. This is never clearer than in days of adversity and times of trouble. People may fail us or fall short. Friends may be preoccupied and busy. But God is always there for us.

When you face adversity of any kind, remember that God is with you. You can move forward in faith, confident in Him. If you are truly trusting in Him, and your life is built on Him, He will give you the strength to go through times of trouble and face adversity.
