Specific Seeds

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

Discover the specific seeds you need to sow to get the specific harvest you need.

“You shall not sow your vineyard with two kinds of seed, otherwise all the produce of the seed which you have sown and the yield of the vineyard will be forfeited.”—Deuteronomy 22:9 NASB

God gave Israel specific instructions about how they were to sow seeds. He told them when and how to sow. He warned them not to sow “with two kinds of seed.” Why was God so specific? Because He wanted them to reap the greatest harvest possible.

God made a world filled with seeds, creating “plants yielding seed” (Genesis 1:11). Each tree had special fruit. That fruit contained specific seeds that only produced one kind of tree and one kind of fruit. Those who wanted to reap a specific fruit were specific about what they sowed.

In spiritual terms, this principle applies to every area of our lives. If we want the most spiritual fruit and the greatest harvest, we must be specific when we sow our financial seed, giving it an assignment. To reap knowledge, we need to seek knowledge. To receive a deeper understanding of God’s Word, we need to seek His insight as we read and study the Bible.

Today, think about the needs in your life. God has given you many specific seeds to sow: seeds of your time, talents, and treasures. Do you need friendship? Sow seeds of friendliness. Do you need love? Sow seeds of love. Do you need a financial breakthrough? Sow into God’s Kingdom from the resources He has given you.

Be intentional, sow abundantly, and you will reap an abundant return!
