Serving God in Every Season

See how serving God in every season reflects the example of Moses and Paul, reminding us to faithfully fulfill our role, steward our calling, and trust Him with every stage of life.

“I am 120 years old today. I am no longer able to go out and come in” (Deuteronomy 31:2).

Moses had an important role in history. For 40 years, he had served God and led His people. Then, reluctantly, he recognized that his physical capacities had diminished. He had completed his mission. It was time to let someone else lead … time to pass the baton.

Paul reached a similar conclusion when he wrote, “The time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:6–7).

For many people, realizations like this can be difficult. We can become so focused on our own role that we believe we’re irreplaceable. But the Bible reminds us that we are part of a body. We must do our part and allow others to do theirs (1 Corinthians 12:18).

God sees our lives in the context of eternity. He looks for people who enthusiastically seize His calling, follow Him, and seek to fulfill His purposes. He looks for those who are faithful stewards of the resources He’s given them, who understand their limits, and who focus on serving Him.

What has the Lord called you to do? Are you faithful? How are you investing the resources you’ve been given?

Seek to fulfill God’s calling on your life. Do your part in the body of Christ while you support others and let them fulfill their personal call. Keep the faith. Finish your course. Fight the good fight.
