Reality

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life.—1 John 1:1 NASB

John stressed that Jesus was real. He was not a myth. His life was not a story. John had heard Jesus speak. He saw Him with his own eyes. He touched Him with his hands.

John felt compelled to testify about what he had seen and heard. It was so life changing that others had to know about it. While He was a teacher of truth, Jesus also was concerned with practical living and the issues people faced every day. And He impacted people in tangible ways.

John wanted others to share in this experience for themselves “so that you too may have fellowship with us.” They could enter fellowship “with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ” (v. 3).

John stressed that our joy is complete only when we share this experience with others. The world needs to know this life-changing message. The Gospel makes a difference that people can see and hear! It changes everything about our lives in practical ways.

What impact has Jesus made on you? How has He changed you? What difference has He made in your thoughts and relationships? What problems has He solved? What prayers has He answered? What miracles have you received?

Live so others can see the difference Jesus makes. Dedicate your life to sharing the truths of the Gospel with others, helping others know the Gospel is real—for you, for them, for everyone.

Reflection Question: Reflect on the visible difference Jesus has made in your life recently.
