Ready to Face God

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

“As it is appointed for men to die once … so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.”—Hebrews 9:27–28

What happens when we die? According to a recent survey, most Americans believe in life after death. Many expect to spend eternity in Heaven. Some expect to go to hell. Many admit they have no idea what will happen.

In recent years, many people have abandoned the Bible’s definitions and adapted beliefs from other religions. Others believe what seems popular, even ideas from films, TV programs, and social media.

Believers need to remember that we find truth in the Bible. It tells us with absolute clarity that we all are “appointed” to die. After death, all of us will face “judgment.” The Greek word here is the source of the English word crisis.

Clearly, we all are headed toward this crisis. Many people dread the thought of judgment. But God wants us free from worry or fear. He is ready to give us peace and reassurance right now.

Each of us has only one life to live. And each of us will be called to account for our words and actions and the opportunities God has given us.

Are you ready to face God? Remember, you can be ready right now and free from fear. Jesus died to take away your sins so you might be right with God. Accept this gift. If there is anything in your heart and mind that needs to be cleared up, do it now. Make sure you are ready!

Reflection Question: What do you need to do to be ready to face God?
