Praying Anytime

Nehemiah was deeply burdened. He heard reports about the broken walls of Jerusalem but didn’t what to do. He couldn’t hide the depth of his concerns even after entering the presence of the king and queen. The king, sensing that something was wrong, asked, “What would you request?”

Nehemiah previously had prayed about this issue. But even in this sensitive moment, standing before the king and queen, Nehemiah silently stopped to pray again. He responded to the king only after this prayer. God had given him the words to speak.

Throughout every moment of every day, we have the opportunity to respond like Nehemiah —to realize that God is with us. We can turn to Him any time, confident in His help, regardless of the situation.

The Bible reminds us that we can seek Him on any subject. God is available to hear our prayers, whether we pray aloud or silently. He can give us His peace, take away our fears and anxieties, guide us, and give us the words to say. And He can give us favor and success, just as He did with Nehemiah.

We also can be certain that His Spirit is with us. As Jesus taught, even when facing complex challenges, we don’t need to worry, but can be confident that the Spirit will give us the right words to say (Mark 13:11). This requires spiritual maturity and sensitivity. A willingness to listen carefully. Discernment to recognize and follow His leading. And confidence to trust and obey Him.

Throughout this day, remember to pray. And remember that you can pray about anything, big or small. God is with you.
