Our Heavenly Account

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

“Even in Thessalonica you sent a gift more than once for my needs. Not that I seek the gift itself, but I seek the profit which increases to your account.”—Philippians 4:16–17 NASB

You may not realize it, but you have an account in Heaven. You are not saved by your financial gifts or the things you have done. There is nothing you can do to buy your way into Heaven. But the Bible also teaches that we will be rewarded in Heaven for the things we do on this earth. Paul told the Philippians that he was seeking so that they would experience increases in their accounts.

How did they make deposits? By sending gifts to support his ministry. His goal was not “the gift itself” but “the profit which increases to your account.”

We can make deposits into our heavenly accounts in many ways. Every time we share our testimony, help meet needs, or sow a seed into God’s Kingdom, He deposits into our accounts. Someday, we will reap the rewards of what we have done for Him in this life.

Ask God to show you what seeds He has given you—what talents or abilities, what ways can you contribute to His Kingdom, and what resources you can share with others. It doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor by the world’s standards. God has given you seeds to sow. Just think of all the ways you can sow!

Seek to make investments into your heavenly account. Remember, it will pay dividends in this life and into eternity.

Reflection Question: How can you add to your heavenly account today or this week?
