Our Hearts

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries2 Minutes

We may think we know ourselves. Our real motives. What we really want. What we really are like. We may have the same confidence about others.

But God has another perspective. The Bible tells us that only He knows the truth, because He has searched us. He knows that our hearts are “deceitful.” We don’t know the truth about others, or even ourselves. Knowing this fact, He warns that we are “cursed” as we trust others.

How our lives would change if we grasped this truth. Yet how quickly we can forget.

It can be easy to feel hurt, frustrated, and disappointed by the actions of friends, associates, politicians, and even other Christians. But we need to remember that all of us are imperfect, with hearts that are “deceitful.” Thank God that He offers to give us a new heart in Christ (Ezekiel 36:26)!

God wants us to place our trust in Him. To remember that we will be blessed if we trust Him, and place our hope in Him. God promises never to disappoint us.

Trusting in God puts our relationships in context. It gives us perspective, and helps us understand our own nature and the people around us. It helps us see that all of us have deceitful hearts. If we trust in Him, we can have a deeper level of peace and confidence, for He is totally trustworthy. He does not change, and will be with us throughout our lives.

Today, renew your faith in God. Put your confidence in Him and His changeless Word. You might have been hurt or disappointed by people. Others may fail you, but He is trustworthy and faithful. He will answer your prayers, give you peace, and meet your needs, if you trust in Him.
