Now Is the Time

Farmers constantly must think about the future. They do nothing just once. Over and over, year after year, they must plow their fields. Break up the ground. Sow their seeds. Preparing for the future, they always must think about what they must do that day.

The Bible tells us that these principles apply to our spiritual lives. As the farmer must break up the soil anew, so we must make sure to break up any hardness in our hearts. Not content with past efforts, we must plant seeds over and over again.

We specifically are instructed to sow righteousness. We need to realize that spiritual weeds can form in our hearts and minds. We can develop habits that distract us and keep us from receiving God’s blessings. Sin can gain a hold on us, keep us from experiencing a bountiful harvest, and water down our testimony.

We constantly need to turn to God in humility, seeking to break up our fallow ground. To stay sensitive to His Spirit. To live according to His Word. To seek first His Kingdom. And we are to be people of prayer.

Can you imagine what would happen if by the millions, God’s people made a commitment to seek the Lord? If we prayed intensely? If we humbled ourselves and sought to cleanse our hearts from impurities? If we repented and asked His forgiveness for our sins? If we interceded for our nation and the world? If we sowed seeds with the resources we have been given?

Don’t wait for someone else to take the initiative. Sow seeds of right living through what you do and say. And pray. Seek the Lord until He comes to rain righteousness on us. Now is the time!
