That You May Know God

“‘Go in to Pharaoh; for I have hardened his heart…that I may show these signs of Mine before him, and that you may tell in the hearing of your son and your son’s son the mighty things I have done in Egypt, and My signs which I have done among them, that you may know that I am the LORD.” Exodus 10:1-2 NKJV

God revealed to Moses that He had heard the cries of His people and would deliver them from oppression in Egypt. And He would use “signs” to force Pharaoh to set His people free.

But, while God was doing a work in Pharaoh, His actions also were designed to impact His own people. He wanted the Israelites to be able to tell “the mighty things I have done in Egypt” to future generations. He wanted them to witness His power and greatness for themselves. To have first-hand experience of His deliverance through situations requiring supernatural intervention.

The Lord was not like the gods of Egypt. He had no limits, and could not be intimidated by Pharaoh or any army. There was no problem that He could not solve, no need He could not meet, no adversary that He could not defeat. As His people witnessed these signs, they would know that He was the Lord.

These same principles are true today. God moves in the world, through problems and difficulties, as well as beauty and creation, so that all people will know Him and who He is. But He also may allow us to go through experiences through which He might demonstrate His greatness and power.

No matter what you face, remember that He is God Almighty. He is the Lord. There is no problem too difficult for Him, no adversary He cannot overcome, no obstacle He cannot conquer. Don’t become discouraged by your circumstances, or feel hopeless. Commit your needs to Him. Have faith. Believe Him. And trust in Him.

Prayer:  Father, I commit these situations to You: _______. Thank You for the answers. Thank You that I can trust in You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
