Making Your Life Count

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries2 Minutes

What would you do if you suddenly received a significant amount of money? Recently, the Gallup organization asked Americans that very question. Specifically, they asked what they would spend their extra money on if it suddenly became available. The overwhelming answer was “toys”—something many people are focused on during the Christmas season.

The survey revealed that upper-income Americans spend 213% more on “recreation and entertainment” than on groceries, clothing, and eating out. In other words, as people earn more money, they tend to spend more of their income on diversions, escapes, and “toys” than on the essentials of life.

All of us must consider what we do with the resources God has given us, determining whether our lives are being consumed with toys and games, entertainment, and escapes. We must remember that people all around us are suffering and dying, and that millions still need the Gospel. He has blessed us so that we might be a blessing (Genesis 12:2).

Ask God to give you His perspective on your resources and help you be a generous person. Dedicate your time, talent, and treasure to God and His Kingdom. Use your resources to impact lives for the Gospel. Seek to be a faithful servant, guided by His Spirit. As He blesses you, put your talents to use in serving Him. Commit yourself to doing more for Him, not wasting your time and resources on things that do not last. Make your life count!
