Kingdom of Justice

Kingdom of Justice

God is committed to justice. In fact, justice is central to His Kingdom.

The Law is filled with references to justice. God commanded that no one should testify in a dispute “in order to pervert justice” (Exodus 23:2). His people were directed never to “distort justice” but only do what is right in every situation (Deuteronomy 16:19-20).

The Bible declares that God loves justice (Psalm 33:5). One of the characteristics of David’s reign was that “he administered justice and righteousness for all his people” (1 Chronicles 18:14). God commanded that His people were to pursue justice (Isaiah 1:17). Yet He often saw how His people departed from this commitment (Isaiah 5:7).

A Bible prophecy described how the Messiah would bring about a return to justice. He would establish a kingdom characterized by “justice and righteousness.” The Bible declares that He would “proclaim justice” (Matthew 12:18). Describing how prayers are answered, Jesus said that God would “bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night” (Luke 18:7).

Justice remains a central commitment for believers. We are to act reasonably toward everyone. We are to seek proper justice in our relationships. We should oppose every form of injustice – legal and otherwise. We are to be His witnesses with a commitment to justice.

In your life, renew your commitment to seek justice. Be an instrument of God’s peace. Always seek to do what is right.
