Keep on Believing

The Israelites had conquered much of the Promised Land, yet they couldn’t drive out the Jebusites. When David approached their city, the Jebusites responded defiantly that he never would even enter the city. It seemed Jebus never would be conquered.

David could have given up, but he was not willing to accept defeat. Because of his determination, he found a winning strategy, persevering until he was victorious.

Like David, all of us will face situations in which previous efforts failed when we’re told it can’t be done and won’t succeed. But David’s actions remind us of the importance of faith. We must learn to persevere and be determined. Trust in God and believe that He can find a way when there appears to be no way. Remember what the angel told Mary about her pregnancy, “nothing will be impossible with God” (Luke 1:37).

Today, remember that you may face obstacles and opposition. People may tell you that you never will be able to succeed, your goals are impossible, or you have an incurable condition.

In every situation, declare your faith in God. Ask Him for favor and the answers you need. Remember what Jesus said: “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7). Be persistent. Keep asking. Keep seeking. Keep knocking. Keep believing.
