A Holy People

How special it is to be a child of God! To realize that “out of all the peoples” on earth, we are “His own possession”! How amazing to realize that we have the privilege of knowing Him. That we can receive His guidance, protection, and power. That our sins can be forgiven. That we can receive His blessings.

These promises were true for Abraham and his descendants. God chose them to show the world just how great He is. He repeated this message over and over to the Israelites.

When He laid out their dietary restrictions, He made it clear that this was not just for their personal benefit but was central to their calling: “For you are a holy people to the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth” (Deuteronomy 14:2, 21).

This still is true for His people. We have been selected to accomplish great things for Him. We are not blessed just for our personal enjoyment but we have a holy calling. For we are His ambassadors. His representatives. For “He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him” (Ephesians 1:4).

Today, remember how special it is to be a child of God. To be born again. To be able to cast your cares on Him. But always remember that you are called to be His witness. To demonstrate to a preoccupied world that the Gospel is true. That God loves them so much that He sent Jesus that whoever believes in Him would have everlasting life.
