God’s Timetable

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.”—Ecclesiastes 3:11

The Bible encourages us to trust God, stand on His promises, and believe all things are possible. But an important part of this truth is that God acts in His own time. He has His own timetable. And His time may not be the same as ours.

The Bible teaches us to remember God’s sovereignty and design: “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” We may experience difficulties and delays, but the Bible promises, “all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).

We see that God has an eternal purpose for our lives. As Ecclesiastes says, “He has put eternity in their hearts.” But He has made it impossible for us to know exactly what is going to happen in the future: “No one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.”

None of us knows how our problems will be resolved, when God will act, or what He will do. But the Bible assures us that God knows the future and that we can trust Him.

Commit your problems to God. Believe Him. If you don’t receive immediate answers, don’t give up. Continue to trust Him. Remember, He has made everything beautiful in its time. If you trust Him, He will take care of you and work everything together for good.
