God’s Promise of Hope

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

God’s promise of hope is more sure and solid than any other fleeting possibility.

“Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer.”—Romans 12:12 CSB

People feel discouraged for many reasons: news of wars, natural disasters, famines in the world, overwhelming challenges, problems without solutions, and other seemingly hopeless times.

No matter how dark or depressing our circumstances may appear, we can always hope in God! He wants to give us hope in every situation, no matter how dark things might seem.

But we should not merely hope. God wants us to rejoice in hope!

Paul knew how to have hope during hopeless situations. As he and Silas sat in a Philippian jail, they could have been in despair. But instead, as they had hope and sang praises to God, He brought them deliverance and victory (Acts 16).

We may go through threatening, uncertain, or fearful situations, but if we depend on God, we know that He is our source of hope, and we can rejoice in Him and the hope He promises to us. If we have hope, we can be filled with joy and peace, no matter what is going on in our lives and in the world.

Remind yourself not to place your hope in the world, the world’s systems, or any human being. Rejoice in the hope that God has given you. Place your hope in the living God and His eternal power to save and make everything right in His time and in His way.

Reflection Question: Is your hope in the solid rock of Jesus or the crumbling sands of the world?

Prayer
Father, thank You for reasons to hope. In every situation, I rejoice in this hope. I trust You with my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
