Full of Joy

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

These things we write to you that your joy may be full. 1 John 1:4

John realized many believers placed limits on their expectations. He wanted them to realize that God wanted their joy to be complete.

He used a Greek word referring to a vessel that was overflowing. He was painting a picture of the abundance God has prepared for His people. He has prepared so much joy that the blessings run over! Yet many fail to receive all these riches.

Fullness is a central theme in the Gospel. Paul prayed that believers would “be filled with all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:19). Jesus said that He had spoken to His disciples “that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full” (John 15:11).

As we look at our lives, we can feel limited. But the Bible reminds us that we need to focus on God’s abundance and remember that He “is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20).

Instead of thinking about limitations, we need to start with His overwhelming power and resources. Remember how much He has promised and prepared. Believe He desires to overflow our lives with blessings.

Ask God to give you a revelation of the fullness He has prepared for you! Remember that He delights to pour out His abundance on His children. Let Him fill you to overflowing with blessings. Let Him bless you, so you can be a blessing to others.
