Full and Overflowing

Paul used a powerful word to describe how God would take care of our needs. The Greek word here translated “will supply” usually is translated “fullness” or “fulfilled.” It literally means to make full; to fill up or complete.

In his expanded translation, Kenneth Wuest translates this verse, “I have all things to the full and overflowing.” The New Testament Trans-Line renders this verse, “My God will fill-up every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

Paul could write this because he had experienced the “riches” that could be found in Christ, and he knew that these riches could overflow for Believers in overwhelming ways. He understood that God had an unlimited storehouse with more wisdom than we could ever imagine: more protection and peace, more finances and resources, more power!

But Paul also knew that many Believers were not experiencing these overflowing blessings. They did not understand all that God had provided for them. Their lives were dominated by doubt and worry. They trusted in themselves and their own resources. Instead of focusing on God, they looked to the world to supply their needs.

All the while, God had unfathomable riches waiting for them. Everything they needed was available for their health and minds, finances and relationships. In fact, He was ready to “fill-up every need.”

Today, remember that these promises apply to you! The Bible proclaims that God can and will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. His full and overflowing blessings are ready to be poured into your life.

Don’t let your heart and mind be ruled by doubt. Declare God’s Word to be true in your life. Trust in Him. Look to Him to meet your needs. Live a life of faith and obedience.
