Faithful and Obedient

Throughout his life, Ezekiel sought to follow the call of God, regardless of his personal feelings. He even was willing to deliver messages that he failed to understand.

In the process, he became an example of what it means to serve God. Through his life, we see that the Lord looks for people willing to put everything else aside in order to obey Him. He wants those who are sensitive to His leading and ready to say or do whatever He commands.

We see this principle in the lives of people throughout the Bible, from Daniel and Jeremiah to Amos and Isaiah. They discovered that their responsibility was to be faithful to God’s assignment, despite their personal opinions or desires. Jesus reinforced this point when He said, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me” (Matthew 16:24).

In the same way, God has a special calling for each of us. He looks for men and women who, like Ezekiel, will obey Him unconditionally—even if this means laying aside our personal feelings and desires.

But, when we obey God, we need to realize that events may unfold in surprising ways. We may be puzzled or surprised if the results are not what we expected. We still may have doubts or struggles along the way. And we may be criticized by people around us, even our friends and family.

This is why we must be confident in our relationship with Him. This comes as we spend quality time in prayer, seeking His will and talking with Him about our questions and situations. It means being sensitive to the leading of His Spirit, always ready to serve Him.

In your life, seek to be faithful to God. Maintain the attitude of a servant. Let the people watching your life see Jesus in you and know that He is real.
