Faith That Steps Forward

In “Faith That Steps Forward,” the miracle of the loaves and fish reminds us that Jesus multiplies what we place in His hands when we obey and serve others in faith.

“Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing. Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds” (Matthew 14:19).

Thousands of men, women, and children gathered around Jesus. As the hour grew late, the disciples knew that the crowds were getting hungry, and they urged Jesus to send them away. But He proposed another solution: that the disciples “give them something to eat” (v. 16).

They could only find five loaves and two fish—hardly enough it seemed. But after ordering the people to sit down, Jesus blessed this food and gave it to His disciples. Then the disciples were forced to step out in faith—they had to distribute the food. As they obeyed, a miracle took place, and everyone was fed!

Just like these disciples, each of us has been given resources. Sometimes these might seem insignificant in the eyes of the world. But Jesus still looks for people like the little boy and the disciples, who are willing to give everything to Him, believe Him, be His servants, and use the authority He’s given them. He looks for those who will step out in faith and believe that He will honor His Word.

Today, you have an opportunity to bless others with what is in your hands. Step out in faith. Let God multiply what you give Him. Share His love and power.

Remember that you’ve been blessed so that you can be a blessing to others. Don’t hold back or allow doubt to block the flow of God’s blessings. Take what Jesus has given you and go forth!
