Dealing with Scoffers

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

In the last times there would be scoffers whose purpose in life is to satisfy their ungodly desires. These people are the ones who are creating divisions among you…they do not have God’s Spirit in them.—Jude 1:18–19 NLT

The Bible warns that the last times would be marked by scoffers whose purpose is to “satisfy their ungodly desires.” They are not focused on God or concerned about truth but are willing to mock, deceive, and divide. They focus on indulging themselves and are willing to violate God’s standards without regard for consequences. As Jude warned, “They do not have God’s Spirit in them.”

With such people all around us, Jude urged us to be sure our lives are built on a solid foundation and grounded in God’s Word. We need to be sensitive to the Spirit.

We must not allow others’ words and actions to divide or distract us. We must maintain our genuine faith, proven through our deeds and words. Live in such a way that God’s love can bless others.

We need to remember that the world around us is filled with people who are willing to spread doubt and make fun of believers. Their goal is to indulge in pleasure. They might ridicule our faith and try to disrupt us. But we must not allow them to discourage us or distract us from serving God.

Make sure you have a firm foundation. Live according to biblical standards. Fill your mind and heart with God’s Word. Trust Him to shield you and give you victory. Be ready to receive His abundant blessings.
