Attraction

There was something about David – something so appealing that men from diverse backgrounds were willing to risk everything to support his cause. What was his secret? David had a dynamic, successful military commander but there was a deeper answer.

Ultimately, others were attracted to him because God was with him. His force became “a great army like the army of God.” Amasai, chief of his captains, explained, “We are yours, David.” They knew that God helped David (v. 18).

Truly, everything changes when God is with us. Others can witness how we have been transformed and how He has impacted our lives. Moses had this kind of transformation after spending time with God. His face radiated such a glow that he needed a veil (Exodus 34:33-35).

As they stood before the Jewish leaders, Peter and John demonstrated that there was something different about them. Even though they were “uneducated and untrained,” their behavior was amazing. The reason? They had “been with Jesus” (Acts 4:13).

Is there something unmistakably different about your life? Can others tell that you have been with Jesus? Don’t be content with a superficial religion or just going through the motions.

Spend time with Jesus. Talk with Him. Listen to His voice. Fellowship with Him. Worship Him. Read His Word. Let Him transform you by His presence. Then, let your light shine (Matthew 5:16), so others can see how He changes lives.
