Abundance

Daily Devotional2 Minutes

God promises abundance and blessings to those who obey Him.

“The LORD will open for you His good storehouse, the heavens, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless every work of your hand.”Deuteronomy 28:12 NASB

After reviewing the Law, Moses concluded that everything could be reduced to two simple choices: The Israelites could be blessed for obeying God or cursed for disobeying.

God had the power to implement these blessings or curses no matter what was taking place in their circumstances. The only question was their obedience! His promises would stand.

God promised them abundance from His “storehouse” of blessings. Malachi used the same Hebrew word when teaching about tithing: “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse … put Me to the test now … if I do not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows” (Malachi 3:10).

From that storehouse, God promised to send the exact amount of rain that they needed, at just the right time. He would bless everything they did. They would be in a position of strength and never need to borrow anything. They would be leaders, not followers, trend-setters rather than imitators.

Just as in the time of Moses, God’s power has not diminished. His storehouse remains just as full. He stands ready to bless us, grant us abundance, provide for us regardless of what is happening in the economy, and make us leaders instead of followers. The choice is ours.

Choose to obey God’s Word. Serve Him faithfully. Seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness. Be ready to receive all that He has prepared for you.

Reflection Question: What act of obedience can you perform this week for God?
