A Thankful Spirit

Life on earth can seem dominated by problems when we are preoccupied with day-to-day questions. As we look at the world, we have many reasons to be concerned. We see wars and violence, hunger and poverty, disagreements and conflicts. We can find it hard to escape these and other challenges. We can feel overwhelmed by our needs and the needs of others.

But everything comes into clearer perspective when we turn to the Bible and get a glimpse of Heaven. There, life’s cares have passed. The very atmosphere is filled with praise and worship, and there’s a spirit of thanksgiving. Today’s problems suddenly seem so temporary. We realize that they will pass.

We see elders so in awe of God that they “fell on their faces and worshiped” Him. No worries are in Heaven. God has made everything right.

We need to be reminded of what the Bible pictures about Heaven. Remember the perspective of these twenty-four elders. They know that God will right every wrong. He reigns and rules in Heaven and on earth. He has an eternal plan. We can trust Him.

Today, seek to bring that perspective of Heaven into your life. Spend time being thankful. Join the twenty-four elders. Worship God, and spend time giving thanks to Him for all that He has done for you. Remember the eternal home He has prepared for you. He is worthy of all praise!
