Stepping into Your Destiny

Stepping into Your Destiny

We stand on the brink of important decisions that will affect the trajectory of our lives in the coming months and years. Just like the Israelites stood on the brink of the Promised Land in Numbers 13, today we each must decide whether we will confront our “giants” and enter into God’s full purpose for our lives.

The Bible is a book about destiny—the great plan that God has for each of us. Your Heavenly Father promises that you can trust Him, for He wants what is best for you. ‘I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity, to give you a future and a hope’” (Jeremiah 29:11 NASB).

Throughout the Bible, God assures us not only of His great love, but also of His desire to bless us so we can be a blessing to others (Genesis 12:2). This is beautifully described when the Israelites are told about the wonderful land the Lord had prepared for them:

“The Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and hills; a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey; a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing” (Deuteronomy 8:7-9).

I don’t know about you, but I would love to live in a place like God’s Word describes here—a land where there’s no scarcity and where I would “lack nothing.” And I’m convinced this is still our Heavenly Father’s will for us!

Don’t Miss Out!

Then why is it that so few people seem to be living this life of blessing that God offers? The main reason is that there’s a battle going on! Satan is intent on fighting us every inch of the way as we pursue the Lord’s destiny for our lives. Just as God has a plan for our lives, so does the devil: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10).

God’s will for you is blessing and abundance. The devil’s will is bondage and destruction. So which will it be? In many ways, the choice is yours. If you’re like many people, your life is somewhere in between. You want God’s will for your life, but you also see ways that Satan has hindered you from full obedience and victory.

The Bible declares that God has given you the tools you need to win the battle and take back what the enemy has stolen from you. The Lord wants you to live above your circumstances, triumphing in every area of life.

Confronting Your Giants

Yet in order to experience the full measure of God’s blessings and victory, you must be willing to confront the “giants” blocking you from your Promised Land. Instead of putting your head in the sand and pretending everything is okay, you must be honest with God and with yourself. You must confront your fears … your sins … and your strongholds.

Your giants are whatever things you’re struggling with today. Does the devil have a foothold in your marriage? Your children? Your finances? Your health? Your habits? Your emotions? God will help you to defeat any giants—but you have to get REAL with Him!

Remember, my friend: If you belong to Christ today, your battle is the Lord’s. Don’t let any Goliath intimidate you and keep you back from your destiny. It’s time to go in and possess your Promised Land!
