A Dry Land

Times were tough for the housing industry. New construction had diminished, and developers were hurting, as were many who built additions, remodeled, or labored in other housing-related trades. Many struggled to find work.

As he pondered these conditions, a Christian business owner realized that circumstances might have changed, but God was still the same. He and his wife started praying and fasting. They prayed with intensity, daily humbling themselves before God, seeking His wisdom and favor, and asking for the miracles they needed. They believed that, even in a dry land, God could pour out a river of blessing and make a way when there seemed to be no way.

Gradually, they noticed a change. Work started coming out of nowhere. New clients somehow “discovered” their business. Former customers called with projects. The work kept coming— residences and businesses, big jobs and small.

Some people might doubt that God could intervene in such a dramatic way, but this couple knew what God had done. He had provided miracle after miracle. He proved Himself to be faithful, pouring out abundance.

In our lives, it can be easy to become discouraged by problems, to look at closed doors and assume they can’t be opened, to suppose that the mountains we face cannot be overcome. But those with child-like faith know that nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1:37). They are bold to ask, seek, and knock (Matthew 7:7). They believe that He rewards those who seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).

Do you face “impossible” circumstances? Start seeking God. Ask boldly. Have faith, and don’t doubt. He can pour out a flood of blessings, even in the driest land!
