Patrolling the Earth

It was a time that could have seemed dark and hopeless for God’s people. Their homeland had been devastated and their temple destroyed. They were exiles in a land ruled by a man possessing seemingly limitless power.

Yet God wanted Zechariah to realize that He had a different perspective. Showing how He viewed their circumstances, God gave him a dream in which he saw a man riding a horse, with three other horses behind him. From within the dream itself, this man said, “These are those whom the Lord has sent to patrol the earth.”

In an instant, Zechariah understood that God had not forgotten about His people. The Lord saw everything that was going on. And He had everything under control.

God still knows what is going on in the world. The Bible says that His eyes “move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His” (2 Chronicles 16:9 NASB). Even when we cannot see Him at work, He is watching us. Even when events don’t make sense, He knows what is going on. And He is shaping world events to accomplish His purposes.

Right now, remember that you can trust God. Let Him take away your burdens and give you His amazing peace. Seek Him with your whole heart. Serve Him. And worship and praise Him. He is watching out for you.
