The Appointed Time

Do you feel the need to try to figure everything out? Many people feel compelled to try to understand everything about the times in which we live. To predict how events might unfold. As a result, many carry weighty burdens, as if all the responsibility were on our shoulders.

But the Bible encourages us to remember our limits. Even the most mature believer sees everything imperfectly (1 Corinthians 13:12 NLT). Yet how easily we can forget our limits. Instead of focusing on God, we can find ourselves trusting in our limited understanding.

The Bible reminds us why we need to trust in God. As the Creator, He has a plan for all of creation. God is sovereign over the affairs of men and nations. He knows both what will happen and when it will happen. Watching world events, He is never worried, but understands that there is an “appointed time” for all events. For all organizations and projects. For all people.

The Bible is filled with reminders of His sovereignty. For He is the “Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending.” He is, and was, and is to come (Revelation 1:8). Over and over we are told that He is sovereign over time.

The Bible urges us to realize that God rewards those who simply trust in Him. Who believe His Word without doubt or hesitation. Who rest in Him. Who look to Him for answers when they face problems.

In your life, remember that, no matter how things appear, God rules and reigns. He is Lord. There is no need for worry, anxiety, or fear. You can be confident that He will accomplish His purposes. And He knows every “appointed time.”

When you need answers, dig into His Word. Call on Him. Trust Him. Don’t worry. Remember: He is sovereign over time.
