Five Tools to Increase Your Faith

The Christian life is a journey of growth, not perfection. Faith Is a Journey, Not a Destination

As believers, none of us should ever boast of having the perfect level of faith when it comes to our walk with the Lord. Faith is not a competition—it is a relationship with God. While one person may be able to boast of persistence in their faith, that same person may lack intensity. Likewise, one who may boast of strength may lack persistence.

Fortunately, God does not leave any of us alone in our weakness. He has given us spiritual tools to help increase our faith—all we need to do is honor them with practice!

Five Tools for Building a Stronger Faith

1. Ask for more. It is vital that we exercise whatever level of faith we already have, and it is equally vital that we consistently ask God for more. A simple prayer—“Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24 NKJV)—reveals your dependence on Him. 3. Fast and pray. Combining fasting with prayer is a powerful weapon in your spiritual arsenal. When fear and doubt attack, fasting under the Lord’s direction can sharpen your focus, restore your faith, and open your heart to hear God clearly. 

4. Worship and praise Him. Through praise and worship, the faith level of God’s children is raised, and His love and blessings are released. Worship ignites gratitude and fuels faith by reminding us of God’s greatness. 

5. Speak God’s words. Spoken words have tremendous power. Choose to speak life, encouragement, and faith-building words instead of negativity or discouragement. Aligning your words with God’s truth activates His promises in your life. 

Removing the Blockages of Faith

Faith is a spiritual force. Just like electricity, there are certain things that can block faith from flowing from God into our hearts and through our lives. Fear, doubt, unforgiveness, or pride can all serve as barriers.

The key to removing these blockages is repentance. When you repent, you realign your heart with God, making space for His Spirit to strengthen and grow your faith. Repentance clears the pathway, while prayer, worship, and the Word keep your faith alive and active. Repentance cleanses the heart; faith fills it with hope, confidence, and victory.
