Transcript Faith is Born Out of a Relationship with GodROBYN GOOL: Welcome to Strengthening Your Walk. On behalf of David and Barbara Cerullo, thank you for joining us today. I’m Pastor Robyn Gool. Today I want to talk with you about one of the most important subject matters in all of the word of God. And that subject matter is faith. Why is that one of the most important subject matters? Because the Bible says in Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him. For he that cometh to God, must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him.”
00:00:39 The question is: How do I begin my faith walk? How do I begin to develop my faith? Faith – and listen to me closely here, faith is born out of a relationship with God. The more you know about a person, the more you can trust them, the more you can have faith in their integrity. I remember one day I got up and I told my wife, “Listen, you drive this car today. I’m gonna take off and get over to the office. Whatever.” And so, later on my wife got in the car and she wasn’t so familiar because she didn’t drive that car very often.
00:01:10 She wasn’t very familiar with the reading of the gadgets. So, she wasn’t sure how much gas was really in the car. And the devil began to play with her mind. “Oh, I don’t know. Is there gas in this car or not? I wonder if I can really make all of my errands today.” And finally, on the inside of her something rose up. You know what it was? “I know Robyn. Robyn would not leave me this car without gas in it. I’m just gonna go wherever I want to go and I believe I will return home safely.”
00:01:41 And that’s what she did. And you know what? She had that attitude because she had a relationship with me. I want to encourage you today, to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, because that’s where faith comes from. It comes out of a personal relationship. God said about Abraham, “I know Abraham.” God called Abraham a friend of God. The Bible says about Enoch that Enoch walked with God. He knew God. He could trust God.
00:02:09 So, thank you for joining me today for Strengthening Your Walk. And I trust that this has been a blessing to you. I want to encourage you to get into the word of God, because that’s how you grow. That’s how you get to know God. You don’t get to know God any other way except in the word of God. So, get in the word, read the word. Meditate the word. Ponder the word. And as you do, you will begin to know what God is like. Jesus said, “If you’ve seen Me, you have seen My Father.” Many people say, “I just don’t know what God will do and what He’s really like.”
00:02:39 Jesus said, “If you’ve seen Me, you have seen My Father.” Me and My Father. He said, “We are one.” And I can remember in my own life when I began this faith journey, I got into the word of God. I’d come home from work and I’d lay down on the floor with two or three Bibles. And I’d read the word of God, because I wanted to know what God was like. What will God do? You see, what I have found. When I began to know what God would do, people couldn’t tell me, “You know, well, God did this” and “God did that.” Something negative and destructive. I’d say, “Not my God.”
00:03:09 “Well, how can you be sure of that, pastor?” Because I’ve read the Bible and I can see what God is like. And I trust God. Once again, thank you for joining me for Strengthening Your Faith. And I trust that your faith will grow as you spend time in the word of God. God bless you.
