I want to talk to you today about how your sins are gone. My mind goes back to a time more than 60 years ago when we used to sing songs in church a little different than the songs today. One of them went like this, “Gone, gone, gone … yes, my sins are gone. Cast into the sea of His forgetfulness. Never to be remembered against me again.”

Now that’s a tremendous thought. Let me make a quick turn here. It used to be in my mind that I’m saved but I’m still going to a judgment and it’s going to be rough. You’re going to decide whether you make it or whether you don’t make it over there. But the truth is, God has done something so unusual it’s hard to understand. He has taken your sins and literally done away with them.

Hebrews 8:12 in the God’s Word translation says, “Because I will forgive their wickedness and I will no longer hold their sins against them.” Wow, can you imagine a statement like that being made as you come into Christ Jesus?

As a young boy – as a young man in Christ in the early years – I was continuously worried about how I’ve got a judgment I’m going to, and that burden of sin was on my back. But then, as I got to understand more of the Word and I was brought to more information, I was like, “Wait a minute. These sins have been no longer held against me.”

Psalm 103:10-12 says, “He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so high are His mercies towards them that fear him.”

Now, listen to this: “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath He removed our transgressions from us.”

The east from the west. Now, the north to the south can be measured, but when you measure the east to the west you come to a number called infinity. It goes on forever. It’s impossible to even imagine how far away from God. And He’s done that so that He can focus on you as that new creature that you are in Christ Jesus.

He’s not going to wait until He’s got you at the judgment and deal out punishments to you and years that you’re going to have to serve for the sins. They’re gone. They’re out of the way. Just see to it that now that you keep that parental relationship. The judicial relationship has been dealt with. The sin problem is done. But now, keep that parental relationship right and that you keep moving closer and closer to God. And do more and more of the things that He would have you to do so that when you come into His presence, rather than being ushered into a judgment hall to discuss the mistakes you’ve made, He can say, “Well done, good and faithful servant. You’ve been faithful. Come on I’m going reward you with much.”

Bless you.
