Soaring ABOVE Your Problems

Jesus Christ stood on a hillside next to the Sea of Galilee and preached the greatest message of all time. We call it the Sermon on the Mount, and the most famous part of the Sermon on the Mount is the Beatitudes.

In the Beatitudes, Jesus torpedoed the lies that our culture feeds us about what real winning is. The word beatitude simply means “blessed,” and in the Beatitudes, we see the kind of life that God blesses:

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:3-10).

Jesus was saying that if you want to soar and live a life that’s really blessed by God, you must have something on the inside that’s very different from the atmosphere on the outside of your life.

If the air inside a balloon is the same as the air outside a balloon, it can’t soar. If you want to soar in life, the atmosphere on the inside of your life has to be completely different than what’s on the outside of your life.

That’s why you can’t breathe in the toxins of our culture and expect to soar in life. Instead, I challenge you to let Jesus fill you up so you can soar like never before!
