The Promise and the Power

The Promise and the Power

Is there some miracle you’ve been waiting for from God? Perhaps you feel like you’ve been standing in line at the throne of God for weeks or months or years. But today can be your day of supernatural favor — and when that breakthrough comes, you’ll never be the same again.

After 40 years of wandering in the wilderness, the Israelites finally came to the Jordan River, right on the edge of the Promised Land. However, the river was at flood stage, and it seemed impossible to cross (Joshua 3).

Perhaps that’s how you are feeling about your life today. You can see your Promised Land, but a flood of difficulties and obstacles is blocking your path.

God wants you to know that the flood you’re facing is actually a good sign — it means you’re about to cross over into your destiny. Your Promised Land is straight ahead, filled with greater abundance than you can dream or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).

Of course, when you face a flood, it’s easy to feel discouraged. The devil taunts you and says, “You’ll never make it. You’re going to lose everything. God’s not going to come through for you this time.”

The devil is a liar!

Billboards of His Power

Have you ever made a promise you were unable to keep? We’ve all done that at one time or another.

However, God has never made a promise He was unwilling or unable to keep. The Bible says every promise He makes comes to pass, no matter how big that promise may be. He can heal your body … pay your bills … restore your broken relationships … and give you peace of mind when everything is crazy all around you. Nothing is too difficult for Him (Jeremiah 32:27)!

God’s promises work no matter how high the flood waters are. If I promise you something, I may discover later that I’m unable to fulfill it. But that’s never a problem with God. He desires to show us the “exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power” (Ephesians 1:19).

God wants people to see evidence of His faithfulness and power when they see our lives. Imagine yourself as a living, walking billboard — a commercial advertising His mighty power!

But in order to unleash God’s power in our lives, we must believe His promises and take steps of faith. Faith is an uncompromising confidence in God’s ability to perform His perfect will on our behalf, no matter what the opposition or obstacles may be. Faith says that no matter how bad things are at the moment, God is going to do what He has promised.

Two Things to Remember

God doesn’t want you to flounder in the life of faith. He has ordained success and victory when you trust Him and do what He asks you to do.

However, there are two truths you need to grasp in order to activate God’s supernatural blessings:

  • Whatever your need is, God has a PROMISE for it. Take time to study His Word and find the promise that fits your need.
  • Not only does God have a promise for your specific need, but He also has the POWER to fulfill that promise. It’s Resurrection power — the same power that raised Christ from the dead (Romans 8:11)!

So, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and thank God for His PROMISE and His POWER. The flood will part when you step into the water!
