“If the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed!” John 8:36
Our armed forces are filled with devoted public servants who lay their lives on the line every day. As we go about our daily lives, it’s easy to forget these brave men and women are serving and protecting us in foreign lands and at home.
Then we find out we have lost one of them – to a terrorist act or a sniper’s bullet or even friendly fire.
Today, let’s stop and remember the brave Americans who have died in service to our great nation. Their sacrifices will not be forgotten. Freedom is never free.
But I want to remind you of another kind of freedom … The freedom Jesus purchased for us on the cross, bearing our sin and shame in disgrace so that we might live abundant lives, filled with peace.
Jesus died to give us that great gift.
As we commemorate the brave soldiers we have lost, I pray that you will also take a few minutes to pray for the lost – that they will receive the free gift of salvation Jesus purchased for them with His life.
If you have lost a loved one who was in our armed forces, I am asking God to give you an extra portion of His grace and all sufficiency as you memorialize them today.
God bless you,
