Discovering ‘The Principal Thing’

The Bible says when you set your heart to “get wisdom” as “the principal thing,” God will give you His favor: “Exalt her, and she will promote you; she will bring you honor, when you embrace her” (Proverbs 4:7-8).

No matter how much you may have struggled in the past, God’s wisdom and favor can change your finances, relationships, health, and emotions in a mere moment. As a child of God, you should expect His favor, and that favor can cause you to regain in a day what the enemy has stolen from you for years.

When God’s wisdom and favor break through, the rest of your life can be the best of your life!

The Bible promises that God “gives you power to get wealth” (Deuteronomy 8:18). This verse doesn’t just say the Lord will give you money, as wonderful as that may be. The promise is much greater than that: If you follow His instructions, the Lord will give you the ability to create wealth!

In the Amplified translation of John 10:10, Jesus says He wants us to “have and enjoy life.” He didn’t come just so we could make a living— He wants us to experience an abundant life!

Yet perhaps you’re thinking, “Dave, you just don’t understand my situation. I’ve got some serious problems in my life.”

While I know you may be facing difficult circumstances, let me encourage you with an amazing principle that will change your life, as it has changed mine:

The only problem you will ever have is a wisdom problem!

When you embrace God’s wisdom as “the principal thing” and seek His Kingdom, everything else in your life will fall into place (Matthew 6:33). That’s good news!
