Ask God for Your Healing

Over the years, I’ve met many sincere believers who tell me they’re not sure God wants to heal them. A man with leprosy once came to Jesus with that same concern. “If you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean,” he said (Mark 1:40-42 NLT).

Do you remember what happened next? There was never really any doubt about what Jesus would do:

Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out and touched him. “I AM willing,” he said. “Be healed!” Instantly the leprosy disappeared, and the man was healed.

Perhaps you need a healing touch like that. With all my heart, I believe it’s God’s will for you and your loved ones to be healed today. If you need healing in your body, your emotions, your finances, your family, or some other area of your life, God’s Word is clear …

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in ALL things and be in health, just as your soul prospers (3 John 1:2).

The Bible teaches that the Lord never intended for His children to get sick. He made us perfect – without sin, sickness, or a body that would have to experience death and decay.

But everything changed when Adam and Eve sinned. From that day until now, we all suffer the effects of their disobedience.

Yet the good news is that God sent His Son Jesus into this world to reverse the curse of sin and death. On the cross He bore the penalty for your sins and mine – and He also purchased our healing:

He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5).

Whether you need physical healing, emotional peace, or deliverance from sin or addiction, God is Jehovah Rapha – the Lord our Healer (Exodus 15:26).

Do You Really Know Your Father?

Throughout the Bible, God reveals Himself as a loving, merciful, caring, Heavenly Father. Jesus said, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” (Matthew 7:11).

God doesn’t take any pleasure from His children being sick, emotionally distraught, or in poverty. He’s glorified when we prosper and are in health. Just as He wants us to be spiritually healthy in our relationship with Him, He also wants to touch every area of our lives – our “whole spirit, soul, and body” (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24).

You can know for sure today that your Father cares deeply about you. He sees the anxious times your family faces. He knows the difficult things you’re going through. He feels your pain, heartache, and suffering.

Amid all the attacks of the enemy and challenging circumstances of life, God says, “Trust Me, My child. The battle is not yours; it’s Mine!” (2 Chronicles 20:15). Yes, the battles may be fierce at times, but in Christ, we can find healing, peace, and victory: “In ALL these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37).

We’ve Seen God’s Healing Power

This is not just some nice theory for my family and me. We’ve experienced God’s healing touch in our own lives and family. When my son Ben was an infant, he once came down with a serious fever – rising to 104°F (40°C). The pediatrician told us to bathe him in cold water, but his fever went right back up when we took him out of the water.

As we prepared to rush him to the emergency room, I said to my wife, “Let’s wait just a minute. I think we need to call on God one more time.”

We laid our hands on Ben’s forehead, anointed him with oil, and cried out to the Lord, “We’re standing on Your Word, Father, and we’re asking you to heal our son.”

While we were still praying, Ben’s temperature suddenly plunged. One moment he was burning with fever, and the next he was perfectly normal!

We knew we had witnessed something truly miraculous, quite a testimony of God’s desire to heal His children. Just as we were desperate to have our son experience relief from his sickness, we saw how much our Heavenly Father yearns for His children to be healed and blessed.

A Relationship, Not a Formula

Healing is one of the by-products the Lord wants to give us as part of our covenant relationship with Him. He tells us to “come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).

God’s healing power must never be reduced to a set method. Jesus healed people in a wide variety of ways in the Gospels, showing that the key is not any certain procedure, but rather coming to Him in faith as our Healer.

We can’t prescribe how or when the Lord will heal us. We simply must have a heart open to His promise to make us whole, regardless of how He does it.

Sometimes healing is immediate and miraculous. Sometimes it’s gradual over time. And sometimes we don’t see the healing take place this side of Heaven.

But I believe you can position yourself to receive God’s healing power. First, ask the Holy Spirit to examine your heart and reveal any unconfessed sin, unbelief, fear, or unforgiveness that may be blocking His supernatural touch.

Then speak God’s Word over your life and circumstances. Speak to your mountain in Jesus’ name, and command it to obey the Word (Matthew 17:20). At times you must also engage the enemy in spiritual warfare to receive a healing or deliverance in some area of your life. Never forget that you have authority over the devil through the mighty name of Jesus.

We Want to Pray for You!

Today, I encourage you to follow the example of the woman who had suffered from a hemorrhage for 12 long years (Mark 5:25-34). She knew she would be healed if she could just touch the edge of Jesus’ robe.

The same is true for YOU today! Jesus is with you right now. Reach out and touch Him by faith, asking Him for the healing you need!

My Prayer for You:

Heavenly Father, thank You that because of Your great love, You want to heal Your child in their spirit, mind, and body. May Your healing power touch them mightily today, and let them feel Your presence and Your peace.

I proclaim in Jesus’ mighty name that every healing promise in Your Word is true for them. Make them a testimony of Your love and healing power. In Jesus’ name, amen.

My friend, be healed today in the name of Jesus!
