The Psalmist reminded us that each of us has a story to tell. In our unique journeys through life, we all have experienced difficulties and challenges. There may have been times when we felt hopeless. When problems seemed too great and we were discouraged. When we might have felt overwhelmed and afraid.

Looking back, we can remember the many ways God has intervened, and helped us when we called to Him. We are reminded of times He provided direction when we felt lost, and guided us to the right destination.

We may have faced serious physical needs. We may have experienced emotional or mental turmoil. There may have been times when we may have “stumbled” and felt that “there was no one to help.”

But, in retrospect, we have the opportunity to realize how things changed when we turned to God. “He brought them out of darkness and the deepest gloom and broke away their chains.”

The Bible reminds us that God even can help those who do the wrong thing, as “they cried to the Lord in their trouble.” Then, “he saved them from their distress.” He “healed them” and “rescued them.”

Some have faced dangers and perils. In these humbling circumstances they realized just how vulnerable and powerless they felt. But everything changed when “they cried out to the Lord in their trouble.” He stilled the storms and gave them peace.

The Psalmist knew that God can help those who face seemingly impossible situations. In fact, He can change any condition. He can help us as we face “oppression, calamity and sorrow.” He can lift us out of our affliction.

Today, spend time looking back. Remember all that God has done for you. Praise and thank Him for His faithfulness. And look for opportunities to tell your story.
