Your Rock

In his mind, David could look back on his history and remember God’s promise that He was with him. Yet, as he walked through the challenges of life, he still had moments of doubt. There even were times when it seemed that God was ignoring his prayers. That He was silent when David needed His help.

But rather than bury these feelings, he brought them to God: “Do not drag me away with the wicked and with those who work iniquity, who speak peace with their neighbors, while evil is in their hearts.” He asked God to remember how his adversaries “do not regard the works of the Lord nor the deeds of His hands.”

As he prayed and worked through these problems, David became confident that God heard him: “Blessed be the Lord, because He has heard the voice of my supplication.” He had renewed knowledge that God was His strength and shield. Instead of giving in to discouragement, his heart was filled with praise. He could be joyful and sing songs of thanks.

Today, do you need to hear from God? Does it seem that He is being silent? If that is your story, like David, be honest with Him. Confess your feelings and concerns. As you go through this process, God can help you find perspective.

Do not give in to discouragement and defeat, but think about all that God has done for you. Remember His Word and His promises. Whatever you face, be sure that He is your Rock. He has not forgotten you. Worship Him and let Him replace doubt with joy!
