Your Heart

Before the Israelites entered the Promised Land, God warned them about the challenges and temptations they would face in their future. In particular, although they might not have believed it, He described a time when they would become corrupt—making idols and imitating their ungodly neighbors.

The Lord also warned them of the consequences that would result from these actions. He promised that they would “perish quickly” and be “utterly destroyed.” They also would be scattered, “and you will be left few in number among the nations where the LORD drives you.”

But God also promised to help them and solve their problems. The answer was to seek Him. However, this could not be a halfhearted effort. He only promised that they would “find Him if you look for Him with all your heart and with all your soul.” They had to be serious about seeking Him.

This principle is still true. And it applies to people as individuals but also to nations.

Many never experience all that God offers, because they only make a halfhearted effort. Others don’t try, because they doubt that He could help them. Some feel separated from Him, because they’ve never repented of the sin in their lives. But, as we confess our sins, God offers healing, forgiveness, and restoration to all (1 John 1:9).

This principle is true for you. Do you have a need? Do you face a problem you can’t solve? In any situation, God stands ready to help. He will give you the answers you need and open doors that may seem closed.

Make a commitment to kindle the fire of your relationship with Him. Spend time with Him in prayer. Seek His face. But don’t be halfhearted. Seek Him with all of your heart and soul. Then you will find Him!
