Worries

What do people worry about? Each of us has our own lists. The problems that plague us. The challenges we find difficult to overcome. Conflicts in relationships. Who will win elections. The economy. Violence. Decisions about church and home. Health and finances. The unknowns about the future.

A recent study revealed that, in general, men and women worry about similar things. But there are differences.

Women tend to be more concerned about finances, with generally more concerns about having enough money for daily expenses, emergencies, retirement, and debt reduction. Inflation figured highly in the men’s concerns, while women were more concerned with financial goals.

Regardless of our age or background, there are many reasons why we might worry. But, in every situation, we should constantly be reminded of Jesus’ teaching, that we are not to worry about anything, in the present, or the future. As He taught, “Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?”

In all things and all circumstances, we are to trust God, and commit our needs, fears, and worries to Him. We are to seek first His Kingdom, confident that He will give us everything we need. Not filled with doubt but confident in our relationship with Him.

What are the deepest concerns in your life? Are you finding it difficult to be free from doubt or worry? The Bible encourages you simply to “give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you” (1 Peter 5:7 NLT).

Obey this simple command today! Don’t be weighed down by worry. Turn every concern over to God. Trust Him. Let Him give you His peace.
