What You Love To Do

The psalmist identified an element that can contribute either to success or failure. Victory or defeat. An attitude that can help us be more productive and avoid problems.

Consider what we “delight” in. Not what we are forced to do but things we love to do. These things tell us much about ourselves and our character.

The psalmist recognized that there were particular benefits to those who “delight in the law of the Lord.” They don’t look at His Word as an obligation or a chore.

Because of this attitude, they think about His Word constantly. They are eager to study it. Memorize it. Pray about it. Tell others about it. They know that nothing else is as important. They know the benefits.

Those with this focus lay the groundwork for a deeper relationship with God, a life in which they enjoy more of His blessings. They develop discernment, and avoid spending time with “sinners” and “mockers.” They are not readily tempted by distractions and deceptions but have joy in not following “the advice of the wicked” (v. 1).

This is a lifestyle, a way of living that leads to prosperity, success, and the blessings of God.
