Unto the Lord

At a time when millions face unemployment, the shocking reality is that the vast majority of people who have jobs don’t really care.

These are the definitive conclusions of a recent study conducted by the Gallup organization. The study found that only about one in eight workers “are psychologically committed to their jobs and likely to be making positive contributions to their organizations.”

Lacking motivation, most employees worldwide are “not engaged,” 24% of all workers are “actively disengaged.” This means “they are unhappy and unproductive at work and liable to spread negativity to coworkers!” Globally, 900 million people are not engaged, and 340 million are actively disengaged!

Think of the ripple effect of this lack of morale. It impacts the service we receive. It shapes how we are treated at shops and businesses. And it diminishes the quality of products being manufactured.

What is the answer? The Gospel! People who practice Biblical Christianity can make a difference in the workplace.

The Bible tells us that God calls Believers to a life of excellence—doing everything as unto the Lord (Colossians 3:17). We are to be good stewards, faithfully investing the resources God has given us (Matthew 25:14-29).

If we are employed, we are to “be obedient” to our employers. We should care about our work and be good examples. Instead of just going through the motions, we should be sincere and hardworking, seeking to do “the will of God from the heart.”

Today, commit everything that you do to the Lord. Be a witness to others. And remember that God promises to bless you for your faithfulness and stewardship.
