"He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone … dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see." – 1 Timothy 6:15-16 NASB
The sun’s power is so bright that it can blind those looking directly into it. NASA warns, “observing the sun can be dangerous if you do not take the proper precautions.” These conditions are particularly acute during solar eclipses, but the warning applies at all times.
Thinking about the sun can help us understand the nature of God, for He “dwells in unapproachable light.” This is blinding power. Staggering in intensity. Overwhelming in purity. There is nothing dark about Him. There is absolute clarity about everything He does.
When we come into His presence, we need to remember this light. Ponder His holiness and purity. In humility, we need to surrender our lives to Him. Let His Light penetrate our hearts and minds.
Because of this purity, Paul charged Timothy to “keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ” (v. 14). He is the Creator, and we owe everything to Him! He has a plan for our lives. He is beyond time and has no limits. And He always will be the same!
Today, think about God – His holiness, His unchanging nature, His unapproachable light, and His purity. Surrender your life to Him. Worship Him. Humble yourself before Him. Marvel that the Eternal God wants to fellowship with you! Allow Him to purify you. Seek to know Him more intimately, and serve Him with your whole being.
PrayerFather, I worship You in Your holiness. Penetrate my life with Your unapproachable light. Purify me. Purge me of sin. Guide me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
