Transforming Light

Transforming Light

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries1 Minutes

Isolated, people in the early days of civilization felt vulnerable. As they moved into villages their sense of security increased. Yet crime remained a perpetual worry, particularly at night. In his study of cities in history, Lewis Mumford describes how, even in advanced cities like Rome, “the streets were dark at night and people ventured forth only at the risk of their lives.”

But the light changed everything. One observer described how “the brilliance of lamps at night” transformed life in Ephesus. Another observer reported that light made people feel safer and led to the growth of businesses.

In similar ways, walking in darkness can foster spiritual uncertainty and make us more vulnerable. We are more likely to stumble, make mistakes, and fall into sin. What is the answer? Walk in the light.

This means surrendering our lives to Jesus, the “light of the world” (John 8:12, 9:5). Be transparent with Him. Allow the Spirit to teach and direct us. Devote ourselves to prayer. Following Jesus helps us see more clearly, recognize temptations, and avoid traps.

As His followers, we are “sons of Light.” Wherever we go, we illuminate dark places. As our lives are transformed, we provide examples of godly living. We show the difference Jesus makes and how to flow in the power of the Spirit.

Let God’s light change you. As you are blessed by His presence, be a blessing to others.
