Transformed!

Joshua had the unenviable task of replacing Moses. He knew others would watch him, wondering if he could measure up. He began his leadership with great success, leading the Israelites over the Jordan River and in victory over Jericho. It was clear that “the Lord was with Joshua, and his fame spread throughout all the country” (Joshua 6:27).

Then he made some serious mistakes. He allowed Israel to be overconfident, resulting in defeat by the seemingly insignificant town of Ai. Joshua was devastated. But God showed him how to reverse the impact of this defeat. Then Joshua failed to discern that the Gibeonites deceived him into forming a covenant relationship. Confident in himself, Joshua hadn’t sought God.

These mistakes could have crippled Joshua as a leader. Instead, he learned from his errors and no longer took God for granted.

As we go through life, we all will make mistakes. When this happens, we need to be like Joshua. Committing every situation to God, we should ask Him for forgiveness, discernment, and wisdom. We must not give up but seek Him in every new situation to help us learn from these experiences.

Today, commit every situation you face to God – every action and thought, even your problems and mistakes. Humble yourself before Him. Don’t allow circumstances to cripple you, but let Him transform and teach you. Learn to trust Him, and let Him guide you.
