“‘We all hear these people speaking in our own languages about the wonderful things God has done!’ They stood there amazed and perplexed. ‘What can this mean?’ they asked each other.’”
Acts 2:11-12 NLT

Crowds gathering in Jerusalem became “bewildered” after hearing a “loud noise.” These were “devout Jews,” yet none understood what was taking place. They discovered followers of Jesus speaking in words. Yet miraculously, each person heard the message in their own languages. And they all spoke about “the wonderful things God has done.”

Responding to the crowds, Peter provided the historical perspective. What was taking place fulfilled ancient prophecies. Peter specifically pointed to the impact of the Holy Spirit, reminding them how God promised to pour out His Spirit “upon all people,” and provide salvation to all who called on His name.

He reminded them of all that took place during Jesus’ ministry, but this was not a religion of the past. The whole Gospel was available for all who heard the message. Miracles. Answered prayers. Supernatural wisdom. Peace. Forgiveness. And salvation!

Thousands responded, and all learned that everything Peter described was true. The Holy Spirit had come in power.

God was alive in their midst. All things were possible. Every need could be met. Believers were so united that they could share each other’s burdens. They had a dynamic relationship with God, and served a risen Savior.

What is amazing is that everything Peter said still is true! All the power! All the wisdom! Breakthrough! Miracles! Like those who responded on that Pentecost, we simply need to accept the message. To repent of sin. To commit ourselves to God’s Kingdom, and not to focus on the things of this world. To make Jesus our Lord. To have faith and believe.

Make sure that you aren’t stuck in the past, that your faith is real today! That you are confident in God, right now. He has poured out the Holy Spirit for you!

Prayer: Father, I commit these situations to You: _______. I will not limit You but believe that all things are possible! Thank You for miraculous answers! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
