The Wisest of Men

Albert Einstein-the man Time magazine named the most significant person of the 20th century-was among the most intelligent and influential people of all time. While other scientists embraced atheism, Einstein often talked about God. He is quoted as saying, “I want to know the thoughts of God. All the rest are details.”

But Einstein had his own ideas about God. He once wrote, “I cannot conceive of a personal God who would directly influence the actions of individuals.” When asked to describe his philosophy, he proclaimed, “I am a determinist.”

Many share the views of this brilliant man. Yet the Bible describes God in very different terms. In fact, He genuinely does care about us as individuals (1 Peter 5:7). We see Him reaching out to intervene in people’s lives, as He did with the Israelites in Egypt. We see Him pardoning sins, healing diseases, and crowning us “with lovingkindness and compassion” (Psalm 103:3-4).

God is Sovereign, but He still allows people (like Solomon and David) to go their own way and experience the consequences of their actions. Even so, David learned that “the LORD hears when I call to Him” (Psalm 4:3).

In fact, God loved us so much that He sent His Son Jesus into this world (John 3:16-17). We see God’s character in Jesus’ life, as He healed diseases, touched the needy, and died on the Cross for our sins.

All of this is hard for some to accept! But here’s the truth: God cares for you! He loves you! He is ready to give you wisdom and answer your prayers. He wants a personal relationship with you. All things are possible if you believe.

Don’t place your faith in the wisdom of man. Trust in God…completely!
