The Power of Your Words

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries2 Minutes

Do our words have real power? The Bible says, “Yes!” In fact, words can change history. Words can heal and bring forgiveness, or divide and cause discord. Words actually can influence life and death. Yet many ignore these truths, and are not careful with their words.

How many Believers speak negative words about themselves. Obsessing about mistakes. Focusing on problems. Fostering a self-fulfilling atmosphere of doubt and denial, feeling that their adversaries are too strong, and they are too weak.

What would happen if we really believed what God says about our words? If we didn’t just read what He said but put it into practice?

What would happen if, instead of being plagued by past sins, we confessed them and accepted God’s forgiveness (1 John 1:9-10)? Instead of concentrating on mistakes, we declared that “as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12)? Instead of confessing defeat and focusing on problems, what if we declared that, “despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us” (Romans 8:37 NLT)?

Instead of thinking about what we can’t do, what if we declared that we can do all things through Christ (Philippians 4:13), remembering that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14) and that He has a wonderful plan for each of us? Instead of giving in to a critical spirit, we prayed for each other (James 5:16), even our enemies and rivals (Matthew 5:44)?

Instead of confessing negative things, what if we made it a habit to declare God’s words? If we replaced our complaints and worries with praise (Psalm 51:15) and worship (Psalm 95:6)? If we stepped out in faith, spoke to our mountains, and believed that nothing is impossible (Matthew 17:20)?

Commit yourself to speak God’s words, and see what happens.
