The Depth of God’s Love

The Depth of God’s Love

Inspiration MinistriesBy Inspiration Ministries2 Minutes

Because of God’s love for us, He sent Jesus that we might “have eternal life” (John 3:16). God’s love for us and our love for Him and each other should be our motivation for everything we do: “Since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another” (1 John 4:11).

Yet even Christians can be infected by sin, the flesh, and the world. Love can easily fade, and our lives can become focused on pride, envy, worry, or fear. We can often find ourselves pursuing pleasure, power, rewards, or success at the expense of love.

To help us remain on course, Paul prayed that we would be “rooted and established in love.” This foundation keeps our perspective correct and helps us remain focused and balanced.

The Bible reminds us that God wants us to know Him, so His love can fill and flow in our lives. This is not just the kind of normal love depicted in the media or our daily conversations. This is a love so great that it “surpasses knowledge.” It exceeds anything we can ever know in the natural world.

Today, ask God to give you a new revelation of His love for you. Don’t be content just to know about this love. Ask Him to enable you to grasp the greatness of that love. Then allow that love to fill your heart. Show His love in your interaction with others.
